Luukki (also called Luukkaa) is one of the most popular outdoor areas in the Helsinki metropolitan area and belongs to the Nuuksio National Park. This area is known for being home to a flying squirrel forest. Flying Squirrels are the main character of Nuuksio National Park, and with some luck, you can even spot them during your visit.
The main area of Luukki is the courtyard of the old manor, which is an excellent place for organizing unforgettable celebrations. You will also find a playground, swimming area, caravan camping site and restaurant Laguna.
Hikers can enjoy outdoor cooking shelters and designated fireplaces. Camping is allowed at the caravan site. The area is easily accessible by car as the location is alongside the main route, and you can also find many parking areas. Just a 2 km away, you will find Hotel Korpilampi and Serena Water Park during summer and Serena Ski Center welcoming alpine skiers during winter.
The area is an excellent place for recreational fishing as ponds and lakes are permitted for fishing. If you receive permission from Luukki's fishing community, you can try to catch the Rainbow trout in the ponds of Kaitalampi and Halkolampi.

THE ROUTE OF THE SEVEN PONDS
The seven-pond route is suitable for both short-distance and long-distance hikers, as the area has two official trail options: 5,6 km and 8,6 km routes. The first part of the route is the same for both trails if the hikers start from Luukki's Manor. These trails are easy to walk, except for a few steep hills.
The length of the routes runs through seven ponds. During the hike, hikers can explore landscapes like small ponds, cliffs, groves, and swamps. Luukki is a nature reserve with natural treasure areas - Kaitalampi and Luukki. Finnish everyman's rights can be used in the area as there are great berries and mushroom picking spots.
The first ponds that the hikers come across are called Hepolampi and Kierlampi. The third pond is Hauklampi, where the hikers can take the shorter trail, which goes around the pond and returns to Luukki's manor. The energetic nature lovers can continue their hike towards Väärälampi pond along the Mustalampi pond. The Pond Väärälampi is one of a kind as it is an entirely natural area. After Väärälampi pond, have a stop at the fire pit in Halkolampi. Near the fire pit, you can also find a parking place. The final and seventh pond, Kaitalampi, is an excellent swimming spot. From Kaitalammi, the walking distance back to Luukki Manor is about 2,5 km. The route back to Luukki's manor passes 2 golf courses - Luukki and Lakisto, which are maintained by the same golf club. The hiking trail signs and information boards guide hikers along the route of the Seven Ponds.
