Snowshoeing

One of the Finland Bucket-list activities and a fun way to explore beautiful Finnish nature during wintertime. Snowshoeing is a great activity for anybody who can walk and want to explore local trails during snowy winter. Snowshoes make it easier to walk the trail and prevent breaking down through the snow. We always recommend snowshoeing with somebody else, but you can try the activity on your own (or, better, with a friend) or book a guided tour.

Safety First

  • Dress properly (waterproof boots recommended) and carry extra clothing, snacks, water, a headlamp, and a trail map
  • Follow market trails (Do not use cross-country skiing trails for skiers)
  • Be aware of short winter days, unpredictable winter weather, and plan your trip in advance
  • Snowshoe with somebody else and make sure that you have a fully charged phone (keep it warm) for emergencies
  • Do not approach wildlife animals
