The longest day of the year is (one of) the most important event for Finns. After a long winter, it is finally time to kick off the summer holidays. Salmi recreation area is located on the northern side of Nuuksio National Park. The area is also known as Nuuksio Northern Gate and offers several trails, which vary from under 2 to 10 kilometers. These marked trails are suitable for hiking and jogging during the summer season. During the winter season, trails serve as cross-country skiing tracks.

Haltia Recreational Area, also called Haltia Gate, is a perfect place that combines Nuuksio's most known sites, services, and the beauty of Finnish nature. You will find there, from glamping nest accommodation over the southernmost reindeer park to the most popular viewpoint over Lake Pitkäjärvi.

Luukki (also called Luukkaa) is one of the most popular outdoor areas in the Helsinki metropolitan area and belongs to the Nuuksio National Park. This area is known for being home to a flying squirrel forest. Flying Squirrels are the main character of Nuuksio National Park, and with some luck, you can even spot them during your visit.
